The short version
  • Start with the tracker you will actually maintain. getquin is convenient across web and mobile, Snowball Analytics adds dividend and multi-portfolio detail, and Portfolio Performance keeps records on your desktop.
  • Use justETF to find European exchange-traded products. It focuses on ETFs, ETCs and ETNs domiciled and tradable in Europe.
  • Match stock research to the market. InvestingPro covers international and European exchanges. Seeking Alpha is better suited to US-listed stocks and ADRs.
  • Treat the broker and spare-cash account as separate choices. Compare each one for the job it needs to perform rather than expecting one platform to do everything.

European investors rarely need one all-in-one app. Start with a portfolio tracker and the broker that actually holds your investments. Add specialist research tools only when they solve a recurring problem.

getquin is the easiest starting point for a convenient overview. Snowball Analytics is the dividend-focused alternative, while Portfolio Performance suits investors who prefer detailed local records. From there, justETF handles European ETF discovery, InvestingPro or Seeking Alpha can support stock research, TradingView adds charts, and Quartr organises company material.

The useful approach: build a small stack around the investments you own. Do not pay for several overlapping tools before a free workflow exposes a specific limitation.
Europe first

Why European investors need different tools

Many popular investing databases start with US funds and US-listed shares. That can leave a European investor looking at the wrong fund structure, an unavailable listing or incomplete data for the exchange they actually use.

The European workflow has several extra layers. ETF investors often need to find UCITS funds and compare listings across local exchanges. Stock investors may research companies listed on Xetra, Euronext, the London Stock Exchange, SIX or Borsa Italiana. Portfolios can also span several currencies and brokers, which makes account aggregation and performance records harder to standardise.

Data coverage matters as much as the feature list. A broad stock database may still miss a direct European listing. A portfolio app may support one broker through an automatic connection and require a file import or manual entries for another. A charting subscription may still charge separately for real-time exchange data.

Ask which tool handles a specific job with the fewest blind spots.

Comparison

Best investing tools at a glance

These are category selections, not an overall ranking. A portfolio tracker, an ETF screener and an earnings-call app solve different problems.

Product access, European suitability and limitations were checked against official sources on 26 August 2026. Features, free tiers, exchange coverage and promotional prices can change.

Method

How we selected these tools

Each tool needed a clear job, a useful European workflow, transparent access terms and a practical reason to choose it over a general-purpose alternative. We also looked for a meaningful free or paid path rather than features that exist only on paper.

Europe fit received particular weight. That could mean a database designed around European exchange-traded products, support for direct European listings, European quote and currency workflows, or fund histories suitable for investors using products available in Europe.

Every selection also needed a material limitation. No tool has complete broker connections, exchange coverage, real-time data, portfolio accounting and research in one package. Payment or affiliate status was not a selection criterion.

Easy tracking

getquin: best for a convenient multi-account portfolio overview

getquin brings portfolios and net worth into one overview. It can track performance and dividends, analyse look-through exposure inside ETFs and add community features around the portfolio experience.

The import options make it practical for investors with more than one account. Depending on the institution, you can use a supported account connection, manual entry or CSV import. It is available through the web, iOS and Android.

The Free plan costs €0 per year and includes broker connections, real-time financial data, a net-worth overview and essential portfolio analysis. Premium costs €89.99 per year before country-specific taxes and adds AI-powered analysis, dividend forecasting, advanced performance analytics and allocation detail.

Main limitation: broad broker-support claims do not mean every broker connects automatically. An unsupported institution may require a file import or manual workflow. Check the connection method before committing to the setup.

Snowball Analytics logo
Dividend-focused alternative

Snowball Analytics

Snowball Analytics is worth considering if dividend forecasting, income calendars and separate portfolio views matter more than getquin's broader net-worth experience. Its free plan is limited to one portfolio and 10 holdings, so it is mainly a way to test the workflow before paying.

Private tracking

Portfolio Performance: best free private desktop tracker

Portfolio Performance suits investors who want detailed portfolio accounting in installed desktop software. It records purchases, sales, taxes and fees, calculates time-weighted and internal rates of return, and supports allocation and rebalancing analysis.

Its market-data tools include European Central Bank exchange rates, a built-in provider for German and US stocks, and several configurable quote sources. The desktop software runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and a mobile app is also available.

The desktop application is free and open source. The main accounting and analysis workflow does not require a subscription, and a separate mobile app is also available.

Main limitation: this is a hands-on tracker. You create a portfolio file and provide or import the account and transaction history. Quote coverage also varies by security and exchange, so a clean setup can take more work than an automatically linked portfolio app.

ETF discovery

justETF: best for finding and comparing European ETFs

justETF is the most focused starting point for European ETF research. Its screener covers ETFs, ETCs and ETNs domiciled and tradable in Europe, so you can work from the products and listings relevant to European exchanges instead of filtering a US-first fund database.

Country versions can use a local home exchange and display different listings. That matters when the same fund trades under several tickers or currencies. The platform also includes virtual ETF portfolio planning and analysis, although its Portfolio Tool requires registration.

The Free plan includes one portfolio, one watchlist, an order list and basic analytics. Paid access adds more portfolios, additional watchlists, simulations, detailed analysis, monitoring and rebalancing. Check the current regional price before subscribing.

Main limitation: justETF is a specialist exchange-traded product tool. It does not provide custody, trading, personalised advice or individual stock research. Once you have identified a fund, confirm the details in the fund documents and check the exact listing available through your broker.

International research

InvestingPro: best all-round stock research tool for European and international markets

InvestingPro is the broadest stock research choice in this guide. It combines international fundamentals, screening, Fair Value models, peer comparisons, watchlists, company health scores, financial histories, exports, WarrenAI and ProPicks.

For European investors, the important distinction is exchange coverage. InvestingPro says WarrenAI covers more than 72,000 assets and its exchange list includes Xetra, the London Stock Exchange, SIX, Euronext and Borsa Italiana. That makes it more suitable for direct European listings than a US-focused research service.

Investing.com provides free market data and basic tools. The substantive InvestingPro feature set requires a paid Pro or Pro+ plan. On 26 August 2026, InvestingPro's August sale showed 50% off its annual plan and 50% off its two-year plan. Subscription prices vary by region.

Main limitation: InvestingPro is research software. It is not a broker and does not provide personalised investment advice. Its models, scores, AI features and screens should narrow your work, not replace company filings or your own assessment.

US research

Seeking Alpha: best for US-listed stock research and investor commentary

Seeking Alpha is the specialist choice for Europeans researching US-listed equities and ADRs. It combines analyst articles, earnings transcripts, Quant Ratings, author ratings, sell-side ratings, screeners, company comparisons, financial histories and portfolio tools.

That mix gives self-directed investors several viewpoints on the same US-listed company. A free account currently includes one Premium article per month, a portfolio, real-time alerts, stock prices and basic research tools. Premium features require a paid subscription.

Main limitation: Seeking Alpha says its Quant Ratings cover about 5,600 stocks, including ADRs, but not shares trading directly on foreign exchanges. It should not be treated as a European-exchange or international stock screener. Use InvestingPro or another international database when direct European listings are central to your research.

Seeking Alpha provides research and information for self-directed investors. It does not manage your portfolio or provide personalised investment advice.

Charts

TradingView: best for charts, screeners and alerts

TradingView handles the visual and monitoring side of an investing workflow. It offers market charts, stock screeners, alerts, fundamentals and Pine Script tools. Its international stock screener covers markets in many countries, including European exchanges.

You can use TradingView in a browser or through desktop, tablet and mobile apps. The free Basic tier is enough to test the charting workflow, while paid plans increase chart, indicator and alert allowances.

Main limitation: a paid TradingView plan does not automatically include every real-time exchange feed. Real-time data for many stock and futures exchanges can require a separate exchange subscription. Check the data status before using a chart for a time-sensitive decision.

Company sources

Quartr: best free tool for earnings calls and company documents

Quartr organises research around company investor-relations material. Its mobile product includes live earnings calls, synchronised transcripts, filings, presentations, AI chat, event calendars, watchlists and alerts.

The international company coverage makes it useful when you want primary company material rather than a US-only rating. Live calls, transcripts and AI chat are available free on mobile. Quartr Pro is a sales-led desktop product aimed mainly at professional teams.

Main limitation: Quartr does not replace a broad stock screener, valuation suite or portfolio tracker. It works best as the primary-material layer beside another research or charting tool.

Broker shortlist

Three brokers worth comparing by use case

Research and tracking tools do not replace the broker that holds and executes your investments. These three cover different European investor needs, so the right choice depends on how you invest.

Interactive Brokers

Cash management

Keep spare cash separate from your investing stack

Money you may need soon should not be forced into the market simply because it is sitting beside your portfolio. A suitable high-interest savings account can give spare euros a clearer job while keeping the investing decision separate.

Compare the current options in our overview of high-yield euro savings accounts in Europe. Some products are bank deposits and others are investment products, so check access conditions, protection arrangements, rates and tax treatment before moving cash.

Subscriptions

When you should not pay for an investing tool

Start with the free tier until you can identify a specific limitation. That may be a missing filter, too few saved portfolios, an alert allowance, deeper portfolio analytics or access to paid research features.

Avoid subscribing to overlapping research terminals by default. InvestingPro and Seeking Alpha can both support stock research, but their strongest use cases differ. Choose the one that matches the markets you follow before paying for both.

The same principle applies to data. A paid charting plan may increase features without including a real-time exchange feed. A premium portfolio tracker may add analytics without creating an automatic connection to an unsupported broker. Pay for the bottleneck you have verified, not the longest feature list.

Yes. Research and tracking tools do not normally hold or execute your investments. Compare a broker separately for the products, exchanges, currencies, fees and account features you need. Our current shortlist in this guide is Trading 212, Lightyear and Interactive Brokers.

Bottom line

Choose one tool for each job

There is no single best investing app for European investors. The better approach is to choose one tool for each job and keep the stack small.

For most investors, start with getquin or Portfolio Performance, then compare Trading 212, Lightyear and Interactive Brokers by use case. Add justETF for European fund discovery, Snowball Analytics for dividend detail, or the stock-research tools only when they solve a real need.

The tool can organise the information, but it should not become the final source of truth. Confirm material figures against fund documents, company filings, broker statements or exchange data before acting.
